Laura was a good North Carolina woman from Kinston. She was a nice person who got along well with both her friends and her family. She used to live in Kinston, North Carolina, and work in marketing.
She was especially good at her job, and her coworkers thought it was great. But her coworkers noticed that she wasn’t there for a few days. People saw her for the last time on July 13, 2011.

She also took her kids to Grant’s place in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was meant to come back in two days, but she never did. After she had been gone for a week, her car was found in the same Raleigh apartment complex where she and Grant used to live.
After eleven days, on July 24, 2011, the investigating team found Laura Ackerson’s body in a creek near Richmond, Texas. She had already died. In particular, the killer cut her body up and threw the pieces into the water.
A boat was used by the killer to dump the body parts, according to the team of investigators. She went to Grant’s apartment to get her children, but Grant and his wife killed her and used a power saw to cut her body up.
Also, they put her body in ice chests and tried to break up what was left of her with muriatic acid. They put parts of her body in a creek so that alligators could eat them. But the police arrested them when they found body parts.

Grant told the court on August 26, 2013 that he wasn’t guilty of the crime, but on September 16, 2013, the court found him guilty of first-degree murder. Also, Grant was given a sentence of life in prison without the chance to get out.
On the other hand, on February 19, 2014, Amanda was found guilty of second-degree murder. The judge gave her a 16-year prison sentence for murder and a 20-year prison sentence in Texas for tampering with evidence.
